Zoning Works
OBJECT
Zoning Works is a versatile gameboard with game pieces that can be used for rudimentary education on zoning and land use.
Through the Civic Engagement Studio at the NYC Department of City Planning, a workstream I co-lead with Justin Rivera and I were able to facilitate the fabrication of Zoning Works, an interactive tactical learning game/tool.
Special credits to Rasika Deosthali for design of the Zoning Works game design in 2025, and Jacob De Castrofor logo design and Tim Boyd for fabrication support.
Below are slides that show Zoning Works in use, along with training material for basic zoning and land use education for highschools. This tool was debuted in DCP’s inaugural Youth Summit in the summer of 2026.
